So is the new better camera going to sway you? perhaps the extra speed (thats what the s is for after all)?
I am currently using a first generation iphone on t-mobile and I am finally to the point where I can take it no more. I am paying to get out of my tmobile contract for the new 3Gs finally I will have decently fast mobile internet.
So anyone else getting one? what size and color are you going with?

Nope. I have the 3G and will keep it. If something happens to it I MAY get the 3Gs but it won't be until they have the tethering available. So tell me why I have to pay extra for tethering? I pay for unlimited data usage on my phone but they want me to pay to use the data through my phone?

I'll probably get it in December, when I can get the full discount, but not until then.
Hopefully by then, tethering and MMS will be available.

I just got my 3g iphone for 199.99 like two months ago, and now they've come out with this new O.S 3g iphone and have dropped the price of the one I have. RAWR! >_<

You can tether now if you Jailbreak
I just got my 3G about 2 months ago so I won't be upgrading. The only thing about the 3GS that interests me is the longer battery life.

I'm going to wait until my contract is up in December. Rumors are that AT&T will announce a tethering plan this week. Apparently it won't be available in the US for a few months, however. I'm sure it will cost a fortune, and will be a ridiculous "unlimited" plan with a 5GB cap...

I have the current 3G and will be downloading the new software for it this wednesday.
So there's no need for me to get the new one other than the faster speed and larger hard drive. The former would be nice, the latter I don't really need.
Plus i'm in the middle of a two year contract so it would cost me $700 to get a new one.

Yes, yes, goodness gracious, yes. I have the first generation iPhone and I've had it for over a year since March 2008. I *knew* they were going to release a new iPhone June of last year, but I just couldn't wait anymore because my old phone died. And I've been fine on Edge because I knew it was a choice I made not to wait a few months before getting the 3G. But I can't take it any longer. The funniest part is that I really have been patient with Edge for the last year and a couple of months, but I have been extremely impatient the last few days since I know faster is just around the corner.

I'd love one, (have a first gen iphone now) but like so many others, won't get one til I can get the discount. Why do cell phone companies continue to screw their current customers?

I already ordered mine online at the Apple store. I have a first gen iPhone that has had a shattered screen for the past 18 months, (courtesy of butterfingers and concrete) so I am SO ready to be able to see photos on a smooth screen! Can hardly wait for Friday!! :-D

I have a 1st Gen iPhone and haven't decided, yet... I may just upgrade to the 3G and not the 3Gs, if I can find one.... Quote:

I was thinking of passing this to my son and getting the 3Gs (Fathers Day gift). But it is my understanding that iPhone 3G customers in most cases can get an early upgrade at $399 (16GB) or $499 (32GB).
I am most interested in the TomTom GPS that should be out this summer and I wonder about having to get the largest memory for it.

Oh, and I almost forgot, how about that Compass. That should be worth the upgrade cost in itself.

The one thing that baffles me about the 3.0 update. MMS & AT&T. How hard is it to make that work? You'd figure a company who's been doing it for who knows how long would be able to say "Yeah, that 10 year old Motoralla can handle it. I think the iPhone may be able to be squeezed in".
This is either a power play, or incompetence on a scale that smaller, less incompetent ideas are orbiting around it. the ISS of incompetence.

I got my 3G last July - the first day it was available. I'll be keeping the 3G for a while - who knows, maybe they'll release a 4G phone next summer and I'll get that one. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
