I don't understand the appeal of these photos.
Seen it one time and that's more than enough for me.
That's not what a t/s lens was meant for.

I'm on the flipside about t/s. I know they were designed for architectural photography, but its cool to see other creative things that those lenses can do. I personally LOVE the miniature look they can give.

I bought a lensbaby composer a couple of months back (yeah, i know, its not exactly a t/s, but very similar effect) and have been using it like crazy. I look at this kind of stuff sort of like fisheye photos. They are really cool in some situations, but if you filled up your memory card with only those kind of pics you would be tired of it by about the 10th shot.

Great find btw. I love these images.

I love my original lensbaby and want the composer.

I just don't like these miniature pics. It's like a cheap parlor trick or something.
To me they look like pics of scale train sets. I guess I don't see the appeal or end use for something like this other than to say, "hey, look what I can do."

Of course this is what makes art art. Some will like it, some just won't get it. haha

I want a t/s for architecture and even more for product/food photography.

I have to agree with Dennis. People can certainly use a T/S lens for whatever they wish, regardless of what they were originally designed for. But to me the miniature look is just a visual gimmick, and the novelty wore off some time ago. I guess it was creative in the case of whoever originally popularized it, but not anymore. Now it's just a fad, like Lucisart-style post-processing or overdone Photomatix tonemapping.

I don't have a problem with the technique, necessarily - but I do have a problem with this:

Quote:
Tilt-shift photography is a technique of photographing using a special configuration at your camera so that you can capture the scene in a miniature scale.
Agh!

im sure a lot of them are done in post, but that look is easily achieved with a T/S lens, or even a Lensbaby.

I myself have done many of these with my Lensbaby Composer, straight from the camera, no post work.

That's one of the worst definitions of tilt-shift I have ever read (I'm not even taking into account the grammar/spelling issues).
