Faced with a very limited budget, I was deciding between Wally and Walgreens. I called Wally and talked to one of the village idiots. I then called Walgreens. Wendy was very knowledgeable and actually seemed to enjoy what she was doing. Walgreens gets my business. I don’t know if there is any difference in the processing quality and don’t care. Wally idioted themselves out of my business.

Depends on the Wal-mart, the equipment and the employee. I have actually gotten some pretty nice 8x10s there. I've found someone who knows the equipment and will let me reprint until I am satisfied. Once you figure out how the equipment is calibrated and what its limitations are you can get decent prints fast and cheap, which comes in handy quite often. You can also pick up some cheap frames. Great for all those little freebie shots for friends and family. After all, Aunt Bertha can see too well anyway, right?

IMO, the local Walgreens also uses better paper than WalMart, and has the prints ready exactly when they say they will. They also usually remember me and have the envelope laying on the counter by the time I'm halfway across the store.

before I got serious about photography I took my sons newborn pics and took my memory card to wally world to have some 3x5's printed for the birth announcements I made and the guy refused to sell me my prints until I produced a "print release" from the photographer. I grabbed a piece of scrap paper out of my purse and wrote on it that I give myself permission to have these pictures printed.

print release
Oh yeah, Now I remember why I don't go there anymore. The last time I went they demanded that I sign a release too. Management must have a bee in their bonnet over some recent lawsuit. "Well these pics look professional to me so you need to sign this." I told them if I have to sign one, everyone standing here has to as well. So a Wal-mart employee is going to selectively make that determination? No thanks. Give me a break! Thanks for reminding me why I stopped going there. Guess I'll try Walgreens next time for the quick and dirty stuff.

I hope the kid-with-dish-towel pose makes a comeback, really.
