Yea.. that is disappointing... and so is the unlimited limit.. but I suspect the problem is all the people that are illegally (or at least in violation of their contract) tethering already via the hacks. I'll bet that it is putting a noticeable burden on the 3G network and that is the real reason for the supposed new limit on the unlimited plan.

If we're paying for
unlimited data, we should be able to use as much as we like, no matter how we use it. That's the reason we're paying for it in the first place. They've already capped the app store, iTunes, banned apps such as Skype and SlingPlayer for using too much data, crippled YouTube quality, and so on. They are controlling what we can and cannot do, which is the beginning of violating network neutrality.
If people tethering illegally are putting such a burden on the 3G networks, I'm sure charging an extra $55/m will just automatically fix all of their problems.

It won't make a difference, it's all about money and power. They are just charging more for providing no additional service!
