Wink Photographing Corpus Christi - 06-17-2009, 09:00 PM

Hi, I will be driving down to Corpus Christi tomorrow with the wife and was wondering if anyone from the area might be interested in meeting up with me and going for a photo shoot while the wife is off doing her own thing. I'll be down there until Sunday but I am hoping to make a few new friends while I'm down there and visit a few places I have not been before.

Please send email through TPF to get this started then we can discuss details later. I look forward to hearing from someone in the area.

Photo likes: architecture, sun rises/sun sets, weak on birding and nature but I don't shy away from it. Landscape or panoramas.

Matt

Matt if I was still there I would have met up with you. We left a year ago this past April.
Honestly if you don't like dinky town living with nothing to do you will be bored out of your mind lol.
Sunsets are beautiful there I must say but most of TX had them while we were there. Sunrises, sorry I am not a morning person lol and only shoot them when a client asks.
You might see something worth shooting at the Botanical Gardens but everytime I went it wasn't worth the money spent to be honest with you.
The pier makes for some nice portraits, if you want some of your wife.
The pier at the LEX makes for some ok shots too.
Also there is a really nice red brick wall on the side of a bakery at the corner of (I think) Camel and N Staples. It is across from the library (can't remember its name either sorry)
But if you get off of SPID on Staples make the left under the overpass and pass the Malls, sonic etc.. you will see a shopping center on your right and the bakery will be the last one in the center. And the red wall is face Camel (if I am right on my streets lol)
Also Portland as a cute little beach in the middle of a residential area that is a park/beach. Don't ask me how to get there though.
Port A is "ok" for birds and boats and if you want the colorful shops.
Oh and for shots of the bridge you need to go out by the lex.
The aquarium sucks! And if you have ever seen a carrier you will probably not care for the LEX. The only thing that made it different than the others was the PH movie stuff inside as part of it was filmed there.
The watergardens is by the BOA center (if they are actually on they are kinda pretty) And the gazebos are pretty along the water wall.
Hope this helps as I am not sure if anyone who lives there still comes on here.
Alicia is from Portland but she is a model not a photographer. Haven't seen Keith in forever. When I put together a shoot all of the photographers that showed were from other parts of TX lol.
Hope you have fun there we were pretty miserable. But then again it is differnt to live somewhere than it is to vacation there.

Thanks a lot Breey; I will keep an eye out for those places. This is not the first time I have been there but I don't always go to take pictures. But now that I trying to refine my picture taking, by slowing it down and ask a few more questions. "Why in the heck do you want to take a picture of this?" lol! I want to see if I can see something new in the same old picture. If you know what I mean. One thing about going digital is that you end up taking a lot more pictures than you did with film. Yes a lot of people say well it gives you the opportunity to try different things but it also very easy to become a snap shooter instead of a photographer. I want to get back to being a photographer. Well enough of the soap box LOL! Thanks for the information.
