This maybe to Iran to what the "Tank Man" was to China, the iconic image.

"Warning: this video is extremely graphic and troubling. Viewer discretion is strongly advised – if you’re at all uncomfortable with violent scenes, you should not view it. Please also view the description below, and be aware that the clip is absolutely unsuitable for minors. We remind you that we include this clip because we believe in free access to information, however unpleasant: your decision to view it is entirely your own.

At 19:05 June 20th
Place: Karekar Ave., at the corner crossing Khosravi St. and Salehi st.
A young woman who was standing aside with her father watching the protests was shot by a basij member hiding on the rooftop of a civilian house. He had clear shot at the girl and could not miss her. However, he aimed straight her heart. I am a doctor, so I rushed to try to save her. But the impact of the gunshot was so fierce that the bullet had blasted inside the victim’s chest, and she died in less than 2 minutes.
The protests were going on about 1 kilometers away in the main street and some of the protesting crowd were running from tear gass used among them, towards Salehi St."

There are times when I am profoundly annoyed at our government.... but the fact remains that every 4 to 8 years, we PEACEFULLY turn over our government to the winning party. This stuff going on there is just horrid to see/hear/read about...

Thanks for posting this John, as the late Dr. Martin Luther King said, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

I'm glued to the coverage because I lived in Iran 1966-1970 (high school) and had many friends there. It's very upsetting but I'm somewhat hopeful that this is a step toward breaking free from the current regime at some point. The best coverage I've seen is a liveblog at Huffington Post that seems to be in close touch with numerous people inside the country. It's amazing how cell phone photography has played into this. It's a lot harder to suppress info and communication in the digital age. I haven't watched this video, though, and don't think I could handle it. I don't need to see that much gore to know what's happening there!

i saw this video yesterday and rather wish i hadn't - it's disturbing. the translation of what her father says to her only makes it worse.
