How to light iPhone screen and keep it clean? - 06-23-2009, 12:09 AM

1. How do you light a screen (phone, monitor, digital alarm/watch, etc.)?

2. How do you keep them clean? (See how dirty it is. I only have been using it for 3 days)

for real thourough cleaning, I stick mine inside of the bag that came with an old pair of oakley's and rub it between my palms.

as far as lighting it -- are you talking about for photographs? If so, you might look through some of these videos for tips http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=...fe&view=videos

keepint it clean is an ongoing thing.

I had that cover thatyou have, but I returned it because it sucked. I just use the thin overlays, and one of the ifrogz covers now:

To light it - I just hit a button to light whatever I'm doing it if dims down or something...

I'd recommend one of the matte screen protectors. My wife has one on her iPod Touch and it works wonders. As for the rest of the phone, if you don't want to add bulk, a skin in conjunction with the screen protector is a good combo.

For me, I prefer the hiking-boot equivalent of phone cases, although it does make phones a tad bigger. See them here.

The new 3Gs has a special coating on the glass to cut down on oily fingerprints. Skins/overlays not recommended. I picked mine up last Friday and to date have no smudge marks on the screen.

Dang - that's reason enough right there to buy the new one. I have a lens cleaning cloth that I use to clean mine regularly.

To the OP, I suggest you remove that case immediately. I used that one for about a month and it scratched up all of the chrome sides and scratched the hell out of the back area.

Yeah - that was also a concern that I had - dust is too easy to get in there, and then it hangs out and scratches...

I have the Invisible Shield on my 3G and think it does a great job. I do clean the screen regularly. But if I went to the 3Gs, this would not be recommended based on what you said here? I hadn't heard that it had any other protection. My fear is a scratch more than a fingerprint. My son had his Tilit phone in his pocket and it got a heck of a short nick from a key or something. Naturally now whenever he looks at the screen he just zeros in on the little nick. I don't want that happening to my iPhone even though it rarely goes in my pocket.

Gasoline is probably the easiest way, but thermite works a lot better.

Someone else posted in another thread that the iphone screen is pretty tough and I would have to agree. I don't keep any sort of cover for the screen and have nary a mark on it. I keep it in my pocket and I am pretty careful about putting nothing else in that pocket. Carrying it in my pocket has the added benefit of cleaning the screen as I walk around.

I also think almost any sort of case or cover will eventually scratch the chrome and plastic back to some degree. Take your product shots when you first buy it.

I use those little wet-naps they give you at Hooters. Which, ironically, is why my screen usually needs cleaning. Hooters wings and touch screens don't mix well.
