Heck, I can always move back when I graduate.
I like having fun way too much to sit around and do nothing. If I'm stuck at home, it's because I'm either a) processing photos, b) planning a shoot, or c) trying to keep my GPA as close to 4.0 as possible.
As for hot? I think we know I can handle that. Humid or not, 138F is miserable and I've logged in hundreds of hours of guard in that nonsense. I don't think I even sweat if it isn't over 110F anymore ;)
On that note, time to drive down to UofH for a meeting!
Hit me with your favorite locations around town, and I'll make it a point to get out there to them over the next five years. |
My husband is an E5 with 14 years of time in service - so I'm with you! He would love to go to school - and after his year long trip - we may reconsider it depending on finances. My goal while he is gone is to get 100% debt free... tax free income should help with that... you know? ;-)
Favorite things to do around town:
Terry Hershey Park - love to shoot there, and bike ride there...
I love - LOVE the natural museum of science... I'm a geek...what can I say... ;-)
So....
Museum of Fine Arts
Museum of Contemporary Art
Children's Museum
Rothko Chapel
Holocaust Museum
The Holocaust Museum is a must... heart breaking.... but one of those things that I think is necessary....
There's a huge fireworks event - Chevy over Freedom this year... The rodeo is a requirement of course.
Houston Arboretum is awesome... better fall/late winter/early spring... lol... not so hot...
There are these get togethers.... TPF group or something that are awesome...
And if your feeling like you should 'give back'.... NILMDTS is always looking for good volunteers... ;-) Just one day a month!!! ;-)
Rock climbing (I'm not much into it, but my DH & daughter enjoy it!)
Houston is an AWESOME theater town. Try a play at the Alley, TUTS, Stages, Ensemble, Main Street, etc.
Considering you'll be there anyway... lol... The UH School of Theater has professional-calibre shows for the price of a movie.
Various Comedy Clubs (try Comedy Sportz for great improv).
The Miller Outdoor Theater has something showing 3-4 nights a week, from May through October. Various types of music, Shakespeare, full-scale musicals, symphony, etc. It's always free... which is great for those with budgets... lol...
You could do the free ship channel tour... you need to make reservations well in advance. Or you can go down on Sunday and drive around the docks; take the Ship Channel exit off the East (610) Loop, follow the signs to the guard station, and they'll give you a map and directions...
I love living in Houston... lol... some of this I've done... some of it is our 'gonna' do... lol...
