ok i need to know if any one knows what type of bug this is .....i dont have a picture yet but it looks like a huge grasshopper it lives in the swamps behind my house and when its wings spread its real bright red

When we first moved into our house, it was the first one in our section and these huge monsters were everywhere along with lots of others. I wondered what country we moved to!!! They looked liked grasshoppers on steroids!!! I took them back to Dallas and people were mortified!!!

nah i just googled them these are much more grasshopper-ish but i have yet to find a jumbo grasshopper to match this thing either....also i have been told they are locust too.....the worl may never know

How big are these actual creatures? Just looks like a giant grasshopper to me...

The only Locust we have in Texas are Trees...

Call you county ag agent, he can give you a positive id.
