There is Gator Speedway in Willis, TX which is north of Conroe on 45 North. Gator is a 1/4 sandy clay high banked track with agressive racing. There is Houston Raceway Park in Baytown that is by far the nicest facility in town. Asphalted pits for drivers, complete concrete walkways and concrete stands, great open flame burgers, decent restroom facilities and is right next to the dragstrip. HRP is a 3/8 mile gumbo clay high banked track. Very fast.
Battleground has been closed (for the most part) for the last 6 or 7 years with no racing there at all. There is also a track I used to race at called 105 speedway on Fostoria Road and 105 (near I-45), but I'm not certain if they still are open.
Most of these tracks run a spec late model class, a modified class, a limited modified class and some versions of a bomber or street stock class. These tracks have info online - Google away!
Glad to see someone wanting to head to the track, even if I haven't driven since 2002! Have fun. |
