Celebrity Photography in 1980 - 06-30-2009, 12:25 PM

Came across this link this morning. Thought it was neat to see some of the old equipment. Lot of the photographers looking down at their gear, but I don't think they're checking histograms.

Third from the right seems to be looking somewhere else...

Maybe they are checking to see how much film they have left! When I started out for a paper, we rolled our own film. Each click of the film roller was not quite one 35 mm frame, so I just kept shooting until the film wouldn't advance anymore.

Dude, check out the one-on-top-of-the-other cameras that the guy in the back row 2nd from the left has. Sweet.

What they are doing is manually setting their apertures. These cameras didn't have auto anything except you could tell they were pros because they had an autowinder attached to the camera..... woohoo!

I still have this exact set up , but haven't shot film in years.

Apparently the year is wrong too. 1985.

Autoexposure was around in the 70s. I still use my autoexposure Canon body that I purchased new in 1975.

Hmph! He cut off her shoulder! Rule of thirds says she is too close to the edge! Is the subject Madonna, or the press?
