This reminds me of something that happened when I was a kid:
I was in Big Bend, hiking with my parents. We came upon this man, intently photographing some cactus flowers, wife nearby. Just about that time, we saw a small family of javelina coming up the trail. They were going to pass right by us, by mere inches.
The woman started tapping her hubby on the shoulder. "Honey! Honey!" she said. "NOT NOW!" he screamed back at her. She continued trying to get his attention as the javelina got closer, and he got more annoyed and never looked up. If he would have even leaned back 5", he would have hit one of those javelina.
I imagine that he would have gotten a few incredible shots, considering how tame they were, but he just wouldn't listen! My dad and I still joke about that. That's also why I take a "spotter" with me on a lot of my shoots - so I never miss that herd of deer behind me while I'm too busy focusing on a flower! |
