They are appealing the verdict, again. I don't like the RIAA, but following this case from the beginning, the defendant should have just settled.

Yeah I'm totally anti-RIAA as well (I think they've completely strayed from their original purpose) -- but I get the feeling this gal was truly guilty. It still doesn't justify the amount of the judgment in my opinion, that's an obscene value to place above actual damages.

Maybe it's just me - but she put songs up in a program that is designed to remove the profit from the people who a.) sing the songs, b.) produce the songs... that basically profit from their industry...

She's guilty. She should have settled with them when they offered that option.

But at this point, this isn't about whether she stole the songs... it's about the lost revenue from others due to her actions.

I had to help the teenage son of a friend of mine with his laptop yesterday - he got a virus on it.... because he was downloading music from websites ... oops!
