Is anybody in Austin hiring?

I don't know if this is in the right place or not, so please feel free to move it if need be....

My son recently moved to Austin, and he's looking for work. He just turned 23 today/yesterday (it's after midnight, but I haven't gone to bed yet ).

Is anybody looking for help around the studio, or do you know of anyone who's hiring? It doesn't have to be photography-related (I just thought I'd try here for him, because I think he'd enjoy it). As he told me, "I shoveled sh*t in a kennel when I lived in Chicago, so I'm not what you'd call 'picky'." (He has retail experience; I know he was at least training to be a manager a few years back, before he moved to Chicago. He also has kennel experience, and was learning to train dogs, if that helps at all.)

He's a good kid. ('though I guess he isn't really a 'kid' anymore, huh? ) He's intelligent, a hard worker, and very reliable. He's good with people and animals, and he's funny, to boot.

He lives just off Mopac and 183, so if you're in that general vicinity and can use some help, or know of anyone who can, please let me know!

If he says he can't find a job, give him a swift kick in the a$$, cause there are folks hiring in Austin! ;-)

He just needs to keep at it. With the economy the way it is, a particular job is getting more applicants than would be received normally. I was one of 10 finalists for a job earlier this year that ended up being frozen and not filled at all!

Remind him to make himself stick out from the crowd (in a good way obviously). Hand in a resume with his application (a well put together one). Dress nicely when handing them in and speaking to the manager, etc.

I would tell him, but he doesn't take advice well from me.... (Not past that "my Mom is SO old and dumb" stage yet.) I think I got over all that around 25, so I have a couple more years before I expect him to come to me for advice. Until then, I have my sister suggest things.... : )

Tell him to go to SouthWest Water at 9511 Ranch Road 620 North and see if they have anything. On our web site www.swwc.com they show us to have a meter reader job open and they may even have some maintenance worker postitions open.
