I left my camera at home today... - 07-12-2009, 01:05 AM

because my wife and I attended a viewing for her aunt at a funeral home on I-45 South in League City. Later after dinner at Floyd's Cajun Seafood!, we were riding through the parking lot behind Hooters when, VOILA! we stumbled upon a car show in progress! What a pleasant (and unfortunate) surprise!

There was a little bit of everything from rat rods to the newest Roush 427 Mustang and 2010 Camaro, Hemi Chargers along with all sorts of Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, 55-57 Chevies, Mopars, the whole gamut.

But like I said, I left my camera at home today!

That's the same car show that used to be at ChicFilA/Target in Kemah for years until it recently got shut down i used to take my mustang all the time. *sigh*

I almost stopped at the show last night on my way home from the boardwalk. Had my camera with me...but since when do you have to pay $6 to park in Kemah?! I just turned right around and left

Just another reason for a GR-DII in the pocket.

Girls are lucky for one main thing: purses. I keep my little Olympus PNS in my purse (i really should call it a tote bag, although it's as heavy as a cinder block) and it's always ready to go. I'm not sure I'd want to lug one around in my pockets, along with a cell phone and change and wallet, if I were a guy.

Not to put to somber a mood on the thread, but my condolences for your loss of your wife's aunt.

I try to have a camera with me at all times. I wish I had gotten up the nerve to have photographed my Great Uncle Perry when I attended his funeral, but I was afraid of offending the rest of the family.

Was today the last or only day? Sometimes these shows move around. If it was sponsored by a local club you may find another show soon.

If there was something specfial you wanted to shoot.

Thanks ImageBUffet. The funeral was today.

We didn't get a chance to go back by to see if the cars were there today. The car show was in the parking lot behind the Hooters on I-45 between Bay Area and Nasa Rd PKWY. I don't remember what else is there except Floyd's and maybe Webster Camera.

BeccaJ, every Saturday night, you say?

I looked around and didn't see anyone that looked like they were in charge, just a bunch of folks with their cars and trucks.

yup, every saturday. the kemah meet had been goin on for years til some folks showed up after everyone left one night and trashed the parking lot...i think it was target that shut it down, i dont remember. so everyone moved to hooters. it's usually the same cars out every week, but it's always a good time. There's no one "in charge" lol

I know out here in our area there is a cruz in every friday night at several locations and several car shows going on every weekend. most of those type of shows are classic car shows. the kind of shows we go to are mini trucker / custom car scene type shows.....stuff you would see on pimp my ride....sort of! hehehe but we try to make it to the cruz in, in arlington on friday nights, just to get out of the house and see some really cool restored classic cars.
