Soffit vents

I want to install soffit vents, but my neighbor said I can't becuase of fire codes. No soffit vents above windows. I live in the city limits of Fort Worth. Any one know about this?

I'd check with the code people to verify. Codes change constantly it seems but the last I knew was soffit vents 8' O.C. met code.

I would have to agree with Roy....but make sure if you install soffit vents..you have some way for the air to move thru the attic..ie...a ridge vent or wirly birds...otherwise you will draw more air into the attic that will heat-up and you will defeat the purpose...If you actually want the Code for it I can get this to you tomarrow...I can ask an inspector friend to get this to me.....

I sell real estate....I would just get a roofer out to your house to tell you what you need to do...(a reputable one..!!!)
