It's a bit pricey, but they have really great restaurants. Also check out the Great Wolf Lodge just down the road.

I didn't stay there, but I did explore the place once after I attended a job fair. It is really super-fantastic! And, that's on an off-day! They have a vineyard and make their own wine, and they always have some sort of fantastic display in the courtyard. I went during wild West re-enactments by character actors. They also have the ice displays in Winter.

Oh, and what Don said about pricey is right. Fortunately, my parking was validated by the job fair, because it was something like $10 just for me to run inside. I wasn't impressed with the food at the one restaurant I tried.

I dont mind the price. I think the rooms run $150ish a night to start and go up from there. We were thinking of going to San Diego for his R&R so I've been saving. He has decided he wants to go to San Diego when he redeploys home. He wants to catch a dinner theater show as well. We're dropping the kids off with my cousin in Ft Worth, so it'll be some MUCH NEEDED alone time.

Here are a few photos that I shot of the Gaylord Texan back in 2005. I spent a few hours shooting still and video.

It is a beautiful place, but its one place where it's not "bigger in Texas", the original in Nashville could probably fit the entire Texas hotel in its atrium.

nice. I'll be showing these to the hubby. I think we have a plan now. We'll go up there and spend the night with my cousin in Ft Worth, then go to the Great Wolf for a night with the kids, then back to my cousins for a night and to drop the kids off, then 2 or 3 nights at the Gaylor Texan, then home. I'm hoping, for once, my plans will actually happen.

Thanks for the input y'all.

The Omni Hotel in Las Colinas is very nice, but there's not as much to do around there as there is in Grapevine.

I stayed there two years ago for two nights. Very nice. Food was fantastic. Not sure it is totally worth the price, but was fun.
