There is a place on the sea wall that is named something... it's been a while since I've been, so I can't remember. It's a person's last name, like Romano's or something. It was always OK. There are a few hole in the wall places further in that have great fried fish, too. But again, it's been too long since I've been, so I can't remember names.

Not very fancy, but we love the burger spot (I believe that's what it's called) I know not seafood though...

Gaido's is the place.

Other suggestions are:

Clary's Seafood Restaurant

Benno's

Casey's is owned by the same folks as Guido's. Same food (just not as expensive).

I ate one of the best meals of my life at Gaido's. It's awesome and an institution for a reason.

There's also Mario's, which serves Italian/seafood. If you catch them when the waiters are awake it's a fine place, too.

Go north to the Cadillac Bar at the Kemah Boardwalk. Get the table outside at Boardwalk level by the entrance from the Boardwalk. Have a camera handy. Enjoy.

I know Gaido's is a Galveston institution and I've eaten there several times, the last time the month before Ike. Sadly, I have to say it was extremely mediocre. I hope they were just having an off day. We were disappointed. That said, it is an "institution" in town and you should at least give it a try. Here's hoping they rebounded from the storm and returned to former glory.
