Has anyone replaced the glass on their iphone yet? I've watched some tutorials and seen some replacement pieces for sale. I was just wondering if anyone here had done it already...

I took my iPhone 3G into Dr. Cellphone in Dallas and had them replace the cracked glass...it was $99 at the time (a couple months ago) so worth it for me to have someone else mess with it.
Jason,
I did it for one of my friends sons. A couple of tips - take it VERY slowly. Like ubber, UBBER slowly. Trying to go fast, or 'make it' fit, will result in you screwing it up.
My friends 17 year old son dropped his Gen1 Iphone - he actually liked it better than the 3G - and got a new phone. He was whining to his mom about how crappy his new phone was, and how he missed his Iphone. But his mom wasn't paying the $300 to get him the 'new' iphone. So he ponied up the $130 or so for the screen to get it fixed, and I was able to do it.
I looked around, and did some research (cause I'm a geek like that, lol) and t the place we ordered his replacement screen from - pdaparts - has an AWESOME video on how to do it:
If you order through them, and type in YOUTUBE - they'll give you a 5% discount.
And just in case you've been told differently - you need to replace the digitizer as well. We bought the $4 'case opener tool'... you can probably make due with something else, but it worked really well, so I recommend getting it to make the process easier. Trying to dig up something that's plastic, that won't scratch, that fit in that little space... ehhh... why bother.

Thanks. I knew about the digitizer and planned to buy the tool kit, as well. With that, the adhesive pads, and the youtube tutorials, well... I figured I could do it for around $60. I'm going to order the parts right now.
Remove the broken glass with a small sledgehammer, and soak the phone in acetone overnight to get the adhesive residue off. Then wrap it in cellophane and send it back to Apple.
