Axle grease update - 07-17-2009, 09:46 AM

Took it back in this morning as I was told that the other parts would be in. They aren't but I asked to have it lifted as they didn't believe me about the grease Honestly I dont' think they guy that you talk to initially mentioned but that is my opinion lol. Cause low and behold as soon as they lifted it and I walked up and pointed towards the grease they saw it. Now how they looked at my rotors and determined they were warped without looking at the axle beats the crap out of me but ok lol.
Anyway luckily the axle is being replaced under warranty and they never did take the tire off to show me the rotor but he said they were warped not worn, there is way more than enough on there but warped instead of straight.
So thanks to you all for giving me tips etc... cause I wouldnt' have thought to ask them to lift it to show them something they should have seen any way.

warped rotors a fairly common, but you will feel them as you brake. It will vibrate thru the brake pedal and in severe cases cause the steering wheel to shake as you brake at high speed.

good luck. warranties are good....

Thanks Ken that is what it is doing. Haven't decided if dh will put them on or if we will pay the extra 80 bucks to have Kia or NEX put them on.
And I love warranties, my family thinks we are crazy as we buy one on all of our electronics etc... Haven't bought a new computer for me in over 9 years but I am on about #7. DH on the other hand his warranty expired and a month later the computer died.

And my sisters excuse is if it is something big enough like a fridge or W/D all of which we have had issues with, she could claim it on her home owners. That is fine if you live in the same place all your life but it sure sucks when you have 2 claims one being a hurrican and then move buy a house and are denied insurance cause you have 2 claims. And that is exactly what happened to us in TX we had to pay out our butts for 18 months to some TX state insurance crap. So I will buy my warranties and use them to the fulliest lol.
Thanks again

And if it's really bad, the whole bed of the truck will shake like an epileptic at a disco.

I once drove a work truck from DFW to Oklahoma City, where I was training people in another center for a week, and brought the wife with me.
Well... the truck was a true work truck in that it looked like it had been through hell. And the rotors were warped REALLY bad. The whole truck shook something fierce, and since there were chains and crap in the bed, it was really loud.
Well... the little lady and I got reservations to a restaurant called "The Haunted House" which is very fine dining. Like... there were porches and ferraris in the parking lot, and the place had mandatory valet parking.
So this guy in dress clothes had to park the worst looking truck imaginable next to $100,000.00+ cars.
LOL!

It is very common for people to say rotors warped.

But thats not whats going on.

There is a very long explanation to this, I won't spend that amount of time.

The basic issue is the brake pad not contacting the rotor correctly.

In my case the solution was to use the siicon grease on the caliper pins and switch to a more aggressive pad.
