I didn't agree with his politics. But he was a part of my childhood. Rest in peace Uncle Walter.

Watching some of the coverage it appears that Walter Cronkite was an avid sailor and had a sail boat named "Assignment". Much of the time at near the end of his career he would take a trip on his boat. The cover anchor would announce that Walter was on "Assignment".

Don't know if that is true, but it sounds good. Don't it?

Truly a sad day for those in tv news such as myself. While I work on the local level Walter Cronkite is a example eery young journalist should follow. He presented just the facts and was one of the most trusted in the business.
