Watching some of the coverage it appears that Walter Cronkite was an avid sailor and had a sail boat named "Assignment". Much of the time at near the end of his career he would take a trip on his boat. The cover anchor would announce that Walter was on "Assignment". Don't know if that is true, but it sounds good. Don't it? |

Truly a sad day for those in tv news such as myself. While I work on the local level Walter Cronkite is a example eery young journalist should follow.
