Taking Ken's rants for what they are worth, I generally think they have some good information. I did find this to be a little funny and while he bashes just about every level, I got to thinking, "Where would he be on his own little scale?"

What do you people think??

Finding anything good in Ken R's writing is like thinking Ebola is good for you....

AHHH, I knew I had read this article before.

I made reference to this article in the past here on TPF and I will say it did not go over well. I didnt even say I necessarily agreed with it, just that I had read this once before.

I did. Call me crazy...but some of it I kinda agree with. It irritates me when I see people who think better gear = better photos.

But then again I irritate easily.

don't have to read it all, just the first couple sentences of each one to get the idea.

i do agree with some things also. but, it seems he left off the 8th level, which I would guess he would title "Rockwell's Nivana." With some banter about how attainment could only be achieved by one person ever. Of course, he couldn't be that narcissistic. So, since he left off that 8th level, where would you put him?

Yeah, he irritates me too. Hes a walking contradiction, partly fact and mostly fiction.

What I thought was funny was when he Reviewed the Sony A100, a camera which he said "wasnt even good enough for him to even use".

Yet, the reasons he gave for him not liking it were some of the same reasons he says he LOVES the Nikon D40.

Things like small and lightweight, no top LCD, etc, which just shows me hes extremely opinionated and very biased towards nikon.

Id put him at level 0 ironically, to me he is an online/armchair expert. his folio' isnt that impressive, its good, but not great, and he reviews things hes never even touched.

No, of course not, but one shouldnt frown upon other camera makers or other photographers who choose to use something different than you.

To each his own. We shouldnt judge one another based on our camera brand. We should judge one another on the quality of the images in our folio, lol.

Amen...Brother Will...!!!

LOL...if you take that scale...and apply it to Ken....Well sometimes he's a 0 and sometimes he is a 6.....I think he is trying to attain the level 7 satus...but not working..you would probably find him between 0 and 4 most of the time...!!!

Me...I normally don't like playing by other peoples rules...!!!

Ken Rockwell is a pompous jerk that probably got his ass kicked a few too many times in grade school, and never got a date in high school. Most of his photos in his portfolio are gimmicky shots where he has cranked up the saturation to about 11 on a 1 to 10 scale.

He generally spouts of crap that just defiles anyone who doesn't see things his way.

He should spend more time trying to photograph oncoming cars on the freeway.
