What's the deal USPS? - 07-27-2009, 02:25 PM

I bought my grip (yeah, third party grip, I know, I know) online not this past sunday, but the sunday before that, which was the 19th. Today is the 27th. Here is what the USPS is telling me.

Quote:
Detailed Results:
Foreign International Dispatch, July 26, 2009, 2:08 pm, HONG KONG AIR MAIL CENTRE, HONG KONG

Processed through Sort Facility, July 25, 2009, 7:49 pm, JAMAICA, NY 11405

Foreign Acceptance, July 23, 2009, 12:53 pm, HONG KONG
Okay, so...they sent it to the sort facility in New York, then sent it BACK to Hong Kong...?

Does anyone have any experience with this stuff, because I dont know whats going on and this is really bizzarre. I need that grip for a shoot this weekend. I really am hoping to have it before then.

I hate the USPS. I never knowingly order anything from a vendor that ships USPS, because it invariably means having to drive to the post office and waiting in line forever to get me #@)($*% package, and that's assuming they didn't lose it.

You should be able to call your local hub (dont go for a local branch, go for the main local hub).
Ask to speak with someone there knowledgeable about INTL shipments and see what they can find out about the package and if it really was returned, or if thats just a tracking confirmation going back.

I use Click&Ship a lot, and have never had problem, even for delicate slot cars...havent lost one yet (knock on wood) in a little over 1100 shipments.

No wonder they (USPS) is on track to lose more than 7 BILLION dollars this year!
And some people want government run health care, which would be run by the same type of people (bureacrats)?? God help us!

didn't someone say that it could take up to six weeks for a package from there to be delivered? Perhaps it didn't actually make it on to the shipping container that it was supposed to so all the USPS got was a packing slip with your item listed that technically wasn't there...

I've noticed something is really off with their tracking updates lately. I ordered something from a woman in Kansas, and they reported it as going from Kansas to Missouri, to CALIFORNIA, to a sort facility here in TX, and then to my P.O. Box. Did it actually go to CA? Don't know. It got here before I was expecting it, though, so I'm going to say probably not.

I would call the post office - the Stafford post office is mine, and it's small and they're pretty nice down there, so this works for me - and see if they can give you any insight if you give them the tracking #. Hopefully there's something wrong with the reporting - not with the actual location of the package.

Well I just got off the phone with USPS...they didnt know why it said it was processed in NY and then showed that it just left Hong Kong. Nice. I love hearing a dumb IDK from our government.

Well, I am expecting it this week. If it isnt here by friday I will be royally mad.

I woulda thought it hit a snag coming through customs since it was turned around in NY. I have better luck with them that with UPS, so dont loose hope. You can also call the sender and ask whats going on. If they had a promised delivery time, they may just send you another since the original package landed back with them. Odds are a paper or label came off.
