Talking Why there are no male advice columnists - 07-29-2009, 08:32 PM

Dear Walter,

I hope you can help me here. The other day, I set off for work leaving
my husband in the house watching the TV as usual. I hadn't driven more than a mile down the road when the engine conked out and the car shuddered to a halt.

I walked back home to get my husband's help. When I got home I couldn't
believe my eyes. He was in our bedroom with the neighbor's daughter. I am 41, my husband is 44, and the neighbor's daughter is 22.

We have been married for ten years. When I confronted him, he broke down
and admitted that they had been having an affair for the past six months. I told him to stop or I would leave him. He was let go from his job six months ago and he says he has been feeling increasingly depressed and worthless. I love him very much, but ever since I gave him the ultimatum he has become increasingly distant. He won't go to counseling and I'm afraid I can't get through to him anymore.

Can you please help?

Sincerely,
Sara

---------------------------------

Dear Sara,

A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line. If it is clear, check the vacuum pipes and hoses on the intake manifold and also check all grounding wires. If none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the injectors.

I hope this helps!
Walter

We do, that's why we don't get lost and need to ask for directions.

Sara,
Don't see the problem, If you follow the advice for #1 that should fix the car. #2 not a problem, she keeps your husband occupied freeing up your time to go out and work!

There is no such thing as getting lost - that's how you learn new roads. If I didn't do that every day when I first moved to this great state, I'd never know my way around. By the time I met my wife, I had only been in Texas for a bit over two years and I knew more of the Houston area than her -- and she was born here ;)

... but yea, what guy would:
1) Want to hear about other peoples' problems long enough to write a column about it?
2) Ever read someone else's opinion of what they should do to solve problems?
3) Admit there was a problem in the first place, that required someone else's opinion?

41? She was a year past trade in time anyway. He was just testing out a newer model.

The great William Claude Dukenfield addressed the question best: "I'd rather have two girls at 21 each than one girl at 42"......ben

He should have checked out an import. Maybe one of those little japanese models.
If nothing else... they're fun to take for test drives.
