OK, I thought the 5D MKII price gouging by Amazon's sellers was crazy, but this is getting ridiculous. I really wish they wouldn't allow these shady bastards to sell on their site... I think it can ruin their reputation.

Canon should put pressure on them as well. Broadwayphoto advertises in most camera magazines and the magazines continue to take their money. What a shame!

Have you contacted Amazon?

There is nothing shady about this.

Shady would be putting a price up there like $300 and having the shipping charges be $4000.

Its not like the lens is rare.. so it is probably just a poor business model.

I don't think I see the issue.
As a consumer you have a choice of where to buy and as a business they have a choice of how much to charge, unless the manufacturer puts a cap on it.
It's up to the consumer to make an informed decision.
I bought the nikon 24-70 a couple weeks ago from 42nd St Photo who had it for $20 more than the street price seen elsewhere, but they were the only ones who had any stock so it was worth it to me to pay a little extra. If they were charging $200 more, I would have looked elsewhere.

Manufacturer technically can't do that because of price fixing laws.

OTOH, it might be a typo.

Have you ever noticed they always only seem to have 1 at a time so you better "hurry!" and buy it while you can. Sheesh!

They can cancel your agreement with them if you are a dealer.

Hi Tarick,

Did you send the seller an email? I just did as this looks like a simple typo to me, someone hit 4 instead of 1 (pretty easy on the num-keypad)

Best regards,

The 24L II is, in fact, very hard to find, not only in US but Japan too (so they said). I've been 3-4 months on Robert Imaging's waiting list. I called them up last month and was told it's a line of there, not heavy but long enough. The issue is they only receive 1 or 2 pieces per shipment, not enough to fulfill the back order.

If you search online, none of them have one in stock.

Nope, only amazon has it for $1,699. It's a legit online price but they never got one in stock. I've seen 17th photo, onecall and other legit amazon affiliated stores bump the price up to $1,899....
