OK, my son will now be in 2-a-days so my wife and I will have vacation, just she and I, next Wed-Fri, plus Saturday and Sunday. We've tossed around flying to CA, FL, Virgin Islands, Las Vegas (as a base for day trips, Hoover Dam, Red Rock, Grand Canyon, etc.) or just driving Texas. The latter allows me to take all my gear and stop and shoot when I want. My wife is not a shooter, she is patient, but to a limit.

Given a choice of departing after work Tuesday and having to return Sunday and a budget of a couple thousand, as a hobbyist where would you go? Landscapes are a desire but any shooting is good.

I was just in Vegas yesterday, its as hot there as Texas next several days. I love shooting there in the evenings, the city lights at dusk. Weekdays they have some good room rates going. There is a lot of road construction on the 15 going towards LA so I would avoid driving that way.

I have been in Salt Lake City today, I was amazed it being Sunday how quiet it was around Temple Square. I have been in SLC many times but this was first time to venture downtown, it was amazing. SLC also has some other photo ops and just some relaxing areas too, Ennicott Mine is the worlds largest open pit mine and has a visitor center I think, there is the lake itself abd the nearby mountains. I also saw on my way in today a billboard about "the worlds largest manmade waterfall". Just another possible spot for ya.

BTW the tabernacle faces east so its better shooting in the morning instead of the afternoon like me.
