I plan on using blurb to make a photo book of the slides I shot on vacation.

The software is convenient and I like the ability to add some words to the pictures.

Does anyone have any experience using them?

Is the "premium photo paper" worth the extra cost?

i have done a lot of vacation books with them, the only way to get 150+ pages at a reasonable price. i have not yet had their premium paper though, as they don't offer it in the amount of pages i have printed.

The regular paper is a little thin... so you get some bleed through.. so I would guess the premium paper would be worth it.

I've sold near a dozen of my book, "Along the Road". I use the premium paper. They're not perfect, but for me, the price and my customers....they're just fine.

I have been doing books with Blurb for about two or two and a half years. I have never had a problem with bleed through on the regular paper. I want to try the premium paper but I can’t seem to do a book under 160 pages, which is the max for the heavier paper. This month I had an article I wrote on some of the recent improvements at Blurb published in our club newsletter.

Two of the most exciting changes is that they can now take PDF files so by using pagination software you have complete control over the layout. And secondly, a very recent improvement is the ability to resize the text and photo boxes in the standard templates or to create your own templates that you can save for future use. I publish a journal of my photography each year. Last year there were three volumes of around 200 pages each. I am trying to hold this year’s journal down to two volumes and am loving the versatility in the new layout options. I have always been very pleased with the results. Any problems I have had with Blurb have been of my own making, not Blurbs. They also just recently announced a new 12” x 12” which is a great size for doing a portfolio.
