Jeff, I was thinking the same thing after finding that link, that the colors on the voting Web site looked really good. Looking at the other designs, it's not surprising that it won. They don't look all that bad on cars (I'm seeing a LOT of them lately), but I'm with the others that the font of "The Lone Star State" is a little cheesy. I've never been to the Davis Mountains, depicted along the bottom, but I'd like to go.

So... does this mean that our personalized plates can have seven letters now?

I hate them as well... only because I'm so used to running 6 digits that the
7th throws me off all the time.

And as I understand, our patrol officers hate the 7th digit as well because it usually is obstructed by trailer hitches etc...

My two cents worth:
The new plates are going to make things a little difficult on law enforcement. Since they added a 7th letter/number the new fonts used are very narrow now, thus making them more difficult to read. Secondly, at low light and at night the top part of the black digits get hard to see against the blue part at the top.

Not to mention that they are just plain busy....visual wise that is.

After seeing Toverman's link with the plates and corrected white balance, it doesn't look too bad.
