controversial to say the least.
1) ethics: would you have taken a pic of this?
2) physics: all the small car -vs- not-small car discussions
3) geek: what kind of car is it?
4) and for us: is it 'shopped"? http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/not-smart/

1. Yes I would have taken it.
4. I am willing to bet no. I know what Terry's car looked like after a semi hit it.

Just the visual I imagined when I saw a Smart Car going down the interstate this morning.
Of course, I would snap that picture.

My vote is that this is 'shopped.
There is no way a vehicle would have given in like that with ease. This image is just like trying to crush beer can on the ground with your foot to make it as flat as possible.
The vehicle's front end would have slid under the dump truck in front. There would certainly be more body damage the dump truck in the rear if it had been going fast enough to crush a car.
Not to mention vehicles in the United States under go a serious crash tests before being put on the road. I am for certain this vehicle would NOT have been allowed on the road. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mz-s1sIoLhU
Take a look at the front ends of both this dump truck and the car it smacked. http://blog.oregonlive.com/breakingn...7/DSCN0321.jpg

I don't think it is photoshopped, but I do think we are looking at this impact from a slightly funny angle. The semi in back and the dumptruck in front do not appear to be square to each other, and the driver front of the semi in back i spushed way back. While the impact was severe, the car did not appear to flatten out completely, just the visible side. Would like to see what this looks like from above?

This is not a SmartCar. It was discussed on Smartcar Site and that is where the link came from.

I saw some other pics supposedly from the same accident and it was not a Smart Car. I think it was SUV believe it or not. I find that pic very unbelievable. I also had no idea which pics were actually real and not shopped. The pics really didn't add up (mainly the one in this thread).

I'm not sure if it was "shopped" or not but it appears that the largest part of the car is behind the dump truck where we can't see it. This photo has been floating around for awhile and inspired an episode of Mythbusters where they proved that, although it's possible, all three vehicles would have to be square on to each other and, in all likelyhood, the car in the middle would be disintegrated rather than squished like this.

It does look like the car in the middle (or suv) was not directly behind, but the drivers side was sticking out on the other side. Not shopped
