Though once, taking it REAL easy... I got 10mpg.

Toad
Were you going downhill with a good tailwind when you got the 10mpg?

I think our truck does about 12mpg in city, but hey, we use it to haul stuff, trips back from the home improvement stores, moving and transporting my dad's scooter after dark. I know, we actually use a truck for what it was designed for!

The nuclear waste problem has been addressed by counties like France, Sweden and Japan. Also note after 600 years waste products are at background count.

I don't acknowledge often that the french are meilleur, but in the area of nuclear energy they are. The few reactors in the US are are run on different systems and there is no standardization. The frechies have all their's standardized and they recycle the rods. obviously, recycling is more expensive than projects such as WHIPP. I guess it's the price you pay so people don't complain about the taste of their water.

WIPP is only for low-level radioactive waste, things like the bunny suits the techs wear while processing the fuel.

No, we (the U.S. federal government) started researching nuclear FISSION for practical devices 70 years ago. Leo Szilard and Albert Einstein wrote to President Roosevelt in September 1939, encouraging the U.S. government to research nuclear fission. Roosevelt created the Advisory Committee on Uranium, which first met in October 1939.

The U.S. federal government began researching nuclear FUSION almost as soon as WW II ended. One early device used by the U.S. in its attempt to achieve controlled nuclear fusion was the stellarator, first used in the 1950s to 1960s.

Didn't know they even went forward with it. My dept head at my college consulted on the project and he made it seem like the intent was to bury rods, eventually maybe? Don't know. Either way, it is possible to recycle the byproduct and nuclear energy is safe. I know the types in California don't like it, but they are always bugging Arizona for energy when they run short. California doesn't like much of anything, wind energy included (palm springs)!

Congress decided to allow WIPP to accept only Defense Department-related Trans-Uranic Waste. WIPP began accepting this waste in 1999. It consists mostely of contaminated clothes, tools and sludge. 94% of this waste can be handled in containers by workers without any additional shielding required.

Sure was.

One of my favorite parts of my truck is that when I pull into a parking lot, I set off car alarms. And that's just idling. If I rev it I will set off every car alarm in a 100 foot radius. Show me the Prius that'll do that!

Now... Have you ever been getting on the highway and noticed that camper looking vehicle with the little hoses and stuff running from it to the on ramp? Basically checking your emissions?
Well... when I go past those I like to kick it into neutral and floor it.
I can guarantee 2 things will happen when I do this.
1) It will scare the crap out of the person in that camper thingy, because it's about 140 decibels at WOT.
2) The next 3 cars behind me (as well as myself) will fail the emissions check. Because since my truck is a 72, it has no emissions stuff on it. None. At all. So at WOT it is killing the earth.
In fact, if you listen real hard, you can actually hear the earth screaming in pain from the pollution over my exhaust note.
