September "Popular Photography" - 08-16-2009, 01:02 AM

I just got my September issue and I had to share... there is a great article in there about shooting children. Tips on lighting, settings, etc. With back to school coming, just thought all the Mom photographers out there (like me) should check it out.

Just curious, what's the best ammo for shooting children?

I like Nosler Ballistic tips in .243 and remember don't lead them as much as adults.

Now, now gentleman. As we all learned in that infamous Watauga 911 call a few years ago, shooting children is no lauging matter...

I was joking John... the dispatcher in that call asked the mother if she 'wanted them to come over and shoot them...' It was all over the news for quite a while.

Duh, a canon! Oh that would be the shooting device not the ammo.

I really prefer to use 30 cal. on children and preferably core lok since kids are so cute it tends to make the jacket come off. Lighting really doesn't matter for the shot since I have a low light scope. but all kidding aside(pun intended) I haven't picked up a pop photog mag in sometime. however this months rangefinder has some good stuff in it about children and seniors

John may be referencing Full Metal Jacket where the war correspondent asks the helicopter gunner, "How can you shoot women and children!?!" to which the gunner responds, "It's easy, you just don't lead them as much."

May not be a direct quote but it is pretty close.
