HUGE UPDATE:Anyone need a lemonade refill? I just got some fresh lemons! - 08-21-2009, 09:44 PM

Those of you that have been on TPF for more than a couple years will remember this thread: My Surgery: Lemons to Lemonade

Basically, (for those that don't want to read the whole thing), I had to have a laprascopic surgery, in which my Dr. found stage 4 endometriosis, uterine fibroid's and cysts on my ovaries. Before we found what the end result was, I decided to take my camera with me to my appointments. I was thinking in my head, that this would be a great way to show our child (when we still thought it was possible) how he/she came into the world.

Here are the pics, but be forewarned, they are graphic. My Surgery

Fast forward a year and a half.

Yesterday, I went to my girlie Dr. appointment. My Dr. and I have tried several different ways of controlling pain over the last year. Not much has helped, and now, things are getting worse. Jeff and I have done a lot of soul searching, deciding what our options are, what we want and the quality of my life.

Yesterday, My Dr. scheduled a full hysterectomy and I'm only 35 years old.

I'm sorta numb right now, I know its the right decision for us. However I still can't help but mourn just a bit. So, on Sept 22, I will go under the knife one more time. I'm not sure if I will do pics or not. Maybe I should, then sell them for a hundred million dollars and at least get something out of the deal LOL.

Anyway, if you could keep Jeff and I in your prayers, that would be fantastic!

You have my prayers, Heather. I am so sorry that you've had these problems. If I'm reading correctly, this has prevented you having children? I am so very sorry for this, too. :(

Please keep us updated on how you're doing.

A good friend of mine went through it, and she tells me it was the best move she ever made, no more pain. Best of luck and prayers to you.

Murph, that is exactly why I'm doing it. No more Pain!

Thanks everyone for the kind words, PM's and good thoughts! The surgery is not for another month.....they better have wifi at my hospital, since I will be there for a few days. Then I get to have Jeff be my slave boy for a week. Then Jordan (the model I have used from time to time) is going to come sit with me for a few days, just to make sure. The really cool thing, is that my mother in law is going to send over her housekeeper while I'm recovering!

I'm sorry to hear this, Heather. Good luck and God's speed on your recovery.

One bit to note here... I had a hernia fixed a couple years ago and since I assume they will be cutting through the abdominal wall for you as well... do NOT laugh or sneeze after surgery for at least a week!

*hugs* I had a full hysterectomy done almost exactly one year ago, on august 14, when i was 39. You will feel so much better after the surgery, it will be like you are a new person. It is truly life changing.

Oh Heather I'm so sorry. I hope you have a quick recovery and the pain is finally gone for good. You and your husband will be in my thoughts over the next few months before and after surgery.
