My brother went to go see my grandmother tonight, and grandma's in-house nurse was severely depressed. After asking why she was sad, she said that she has played the same exact numbers for the past several years for the Mega Millions lottery, but forgot to play for Friday's drawing.

The numbers she plays each time are 1-17-31-37-54:31.

Friday's Mega Millions drawing numbers for 333 million dollars were 1-17-31-37-54:31.

She forgot to get the ticket.

To show that she was telling the truth she pulled out some of her previous tickets with the same numbers.


I can't even imagine how crappy she feels right now. Geez.

Gambling.... in and of itself is a folly. The whole issue is irony at it's best. I wouldn't feel pity for her nor look down on her, but more sorrow that she puts so much faith in something that is doomed to let her down in the long run.
