Deep-fried butter? - 09-01-2009, 06:00 PM

One of the finalists for the annual "will it kill anybody" food contest among vendors at the State Fair of Texas is deep-fried butter. Good grief!!

Fort Worth Star-Telegram story here. Apparently crazy Southern cook Paula Deen has an equally terrible recipe.

Makes fried Twinkies seem pedestrian!

They both sound pretty good to me. Do you know whether the butter is fried in vegetable oil or lard?

I'm surprised that there isn't anything like chocolate covered bacon on that list. I saw something where Penn, of Penn and Teller, was reviewing some chocolate covered bacon and was disappointed. His reasoning was hilarious, but can't be repeated here :(

mmmmmmMMMmmmm, butter.

There's a store on South Congress that sells chocolate covered bacon. And isn't there a restaurant/ roadstop in Texas that serves chicken fried bacon?

Deep fried bacon wrapped butter. Now, that's good eats.

No thanks, I'll stick to destroying my Cholestrol numbers with Scottish Eggs.

Can I get a Jolt cola with that? I want a heart attack just a little quicker.

Wouldn't the butter melt? My personal vote would be for the twisted yams.

As long as it does not have flower or sugar it could be good for your health.

No chocolate covered bacon because this is strictly the "new foods" entry. Choco-bacon has been done, last year i think.

Fry balls for 10 to 15 seconds until just light golden. Drain on paper towels before serving.

LOL!!!
