..lens what would it be and why? You don't have to own it, it could be your dream lens.

Mine would be my 300mm f2.8 IS. For me it would be useable for sports and nature which I really enjoy and it does produce some beautiful 3/4 length portraits.

50mm f/1, still super fast with a 2x on it, would kill on macro with an extension tube, can you say "quality glass", unreal DoF, and who needs a flash with that much light coming in
IF you can tame the beast.

85mm f/1.4 Nikkor. My favorite lens for natural light portraiture. I use it often.

I'm still trying to find it.
Got a Nikkor 24-70 f/2.8 a week ago and I'm hoping this could be the one.

I'd go for a 35 f/1.4, too.

probably my 70-200... I love my 300 but it is too big to be practical in a lot of situations.

But seriously, I am glad I don't have to choose just one -- I have the 4 lenses that I want at the moment. I could probably use something faster (but it is not required)

16-35
24-70
70-200
300

Just one...

I don't want to play this game -- taking my toys and going home...

---------------------------
Nevermind -- I'll take care of it myself!
