Battery Chargers in Houston?? - 09-02-2009, 11:56 AM

So I'm looking for a new AA/AAA battery charger to carry with me.

I'd be ALL about picking up a La Crosse 900...or any of the good chargers, however I wanna pick one up today.

Anyone know of any Houston retailers that carry nice chargers??

Fry and Microcenter might but after calling them, I'm led to believe their employees probably know more about drugs than the products they (attempt) to sell.

Here is a battery place on 290 in between Fairbanks and the beltway on the south side of the freeway. I bought my maha's there and they had the chargers as well. Give me a min and I'll find the info for you

CFord added 2 Minutes and 28 Seconds later...Double Post Merged Below

Either they moved or there is another one on 290 besides the one I was thinking of.

That's close to the one I have, but good luck finding it local. Any chance you can order the good one and just use Alkaline for today?

Yeah...I have a really nice charger...

HOWEVER it's big, and has a seperate 7amp power supply.

I just hate the hassel and going out shooting without a charger...so I'll man-up and trust the charges and order the La Crosse...:)

a bit of a thread jack... I am assuming these AA are for your speedlights. Do you find these charges make a diffrence over the $20 "radio shack" ones? Do they charge the batteries faster? slower? more? make the batteries last longer?
I have two speedlights coming in and plan to buy atleast 16 rechargable AA's and a charger. Not just for Tre but anyone that has knowledge.

Well as far as chargers, the better ones charge faster BUT also have peak sensing and temp sensing...so you won't blow through their life cycle early.

So in all...yup...charge faster and makes them last longer in both life and single charge.

They also have trickle charge after fast charge so they keep them topped off...

I have been using the MAHA MH-C800S 8 cell charger to recharge my Powerex 2700's and Energizer 2500's. Works well for me.
Mike

Edit: Check out these guys. I've bought larger batteries from them before.

That charger looks familiar... I have one next to me right now. It really is a good one - and taught me a lot about batteries.

The MaHa I use definitely is better than the Radio Shack and other brands I've used. It brought back quite a few dead batteries that others wouldn't recognize, and it can charge in all 8 batteries in either one or two hours independently of each other. Although charging in one hour with high capacity NiMHs can burn your charger if you are not careful. I already burned one.

NP Tre. And I am surprised yours will let you get that close to there. Mine starts asking questions if I am heading to that side of town, kinda like HCE in my wife's mind.
