I can honestly say that TPF improved my skills tremendously... and I try to share what I've learned here.. and I still have much to learn - from everyone.

I totally agree with Brad. I have learned so much in my short time here on TPF. I have met a few tpf'ers so far and looking forward to meeting a lot more. I know I have a lot left to learn and I can't wait till I get the chance to teach others what I have learned.

I think my skills have significantly improved by watching some of the more seasoned pro's.

With that said, I think my mind is warped by seeing the naked penis guy. But I digress. :) :)

None but I have a rather iconoclastic philosophy of photography.

It has helped me in that I am relatively new to Texas in the scheme of things. We're about to have our 5th anniversary of being here. We haven't ventured much outside of Wharton County except when we evacuated for Hurricane Rita in 2005. You guys are showing me all sorts of goodies that this state has to offer. I just need to get a reliable vehicle so that I can go out and see them for myself.

Thanks for sharing about all the cool places, and sharing your wonderful photos. :)

Absolutely MORE and I hope all the ones that have helped know who they are. If they don't, let me thank them now. I'm no where near where I want to be but way ahead of where I was.

Yes, I have learned a lot here, and I try to give back whenever possible by passing on that knowledge. However, I still have tons to learn.

I think it has helped me. There is a lot I don't know about taking decent pictures and I am seeing good examples here of what to do and what NOT to do. I don't have anyone I can spend time with who is a knowledgeable photographer so I rely on posts here to learn what I need.

It's been a tremendous learning resource, a great place to gather inspiration, and I've met some amazing photographers and pretty nice people! My only regret is not having more time to read postings!

More from the people that I have met from here than the actual board itself...

Not to say that I have not learned from the board and the postings, just that the offline resources have become indispensible

We should get a poll going. "Helped" "Hindered" "No affect".
It's definitely helped me, people's advice and critiques for sure. But the most help I've received is in the business aspect of it. Sales, presentation, execution and delivery- I can't mention any of these things without thanking Holly. Her sales and business advice makes everything much clearer and understandable.
She's not the only one that has helped me, but she's certainly the foremost personally.

For me participating in forum is a way to feel connected to other photographers and to learn. I enjoy giving my opinion on other people's work, which also helps me learn to pause in front of an image and study it. The more I look at work, the more I educate myself on photography. I also like sharing what I know and how I do things.

Ditto all the above replies.

Each time I look at someones images, I am reminded that my work has a long way to go. I feel comfortable with the technical aspects and deficient in the artistic aspects.

I've garnered more information on this forum than anywhere else, on or off the internet.
