Poor baby. They learn to adapt though. She's a cutie, too!

this happened so quickly too - and the cost of cataract surgery is pretty prohibitive..$1500 per eye - she's already got pancreatitis that we have spent a fortune on..

Poor little baby. You'll have to put up a childproof fence around the pool :P

just love her while you have her. Hold her a bit longer, play with her a bit more often.

Without trying to seem facetious, can you get her a seeing-eye human...My pups are precious to me and we often forget they are susceptible to a lot of the same things we are...Good luck with her and keep her away from the street......Ben

ben - she's strictly a house dog - and really only goes outside in the backyard to 'do business'. pugs can't cool or heat their air due to the short noses.

thanks everyone - i dont' know how this dog could POSSIBLY be more spoiled than she already is though - seriously, if i could be a pug owned by me...i would.

ken, she's only 8, so hopefully she'll be around a while yet..and as you can see from her photos...there's plenty to love - haha

it's just sad but it will be ok - been doing lots of reading this evening on blind dogs, evidently they take it better than the humans..

I would imagine that a dog is much better at adapting than a human to being blind - their sense of smell is much better and they hear much better...

Sorry to hear it - but glad you are taking care of her. ;-)

I'm sorry to hear about your dog. The dog I had while growing up went blind - and she lived to be 18. She pretty much found her way around the house no problem, as long as someone didn't move the furniture. We had to watch her outside - my parents deck had a big hole where a tree was growing through it and she would manage to get herself into that hole and couldn't get out. Is there any way to put some type of fencing around your pool? That would be my biggest concern if she is outside without you guys watching her.

lisa, there is no way she will be outside without one of us at all times. she's always been neurotic that way since she was a puppy - the other pug would stay outside all day if i let her - this one is strictly inside or with one of us, that's just the way she is.

the biggest problem i can tell at this point, is finding a sitter for her to come and take her out while i'm out of town in the next couple of weeks. the kids i use during the summer are at school, and boarding her is probably not an option, i don't think i would trust them and moving her to an unfamiliar surrounding would NOT be a good idea.
