Just Moved to Houston!! - 09-17-2009, 07:28 PM

I'm going to business school at U of H and just got an apartment near the galleria.

I moved from Magnolia (on acreage), so it's a bit of a change...any tips on what sites or photo ops I should check out/soak in? :D

I know Houston fairly well, but I don't know all the special places the regulars do :) Only cool place I go to is lower Westheimer.

Depends on what you want to do - Houston has everything... lol.

For my personal work, I like to shoot anything and everything. Sooo I'm not picky at the moment :)

Check out Brian's (Steelsun) thread:

http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...ighlight=route

There's also a bunch of stuff to shoot just walking around the Galleria area. Do a search on the forum first, though. There are some places, like the Williams Tower, where you might run into security. You can also go downtown and shoot the big buildings and the parks.

Then there is always Glenwood Cemetery:

http://www.glenwoodcemetery.org/

Glenwood is a permanent thread on TPF, so do a search on it, and you'll see what I mean.

After you get all of these things shot, let us know, and we'll give you another list.

Good luck.

Congrats. I had an Aunt that lived just South of there when I was a kid. I loved being able to smell the ocean. (At least I assumed it was the ocean)

Not to promote my own stuff, but.... oh well I'm going to promote my own stuff. If you check out the Assignment: Houston website I post things going on in the city weekly that you can check out. We are getting ready to head into festival season so there will be lots of photo opportunities. Welcome to Houston!
