Had a good day yesterday - 09-18-2009, 06:09 AM

Woke up, and had a nice cup of tea. Drove to work, was sitting down to write a report, when the phone rang, and the bailiff told me; "Get down here (to the Courthouse) NOW!" I had been in a jury trial for two days on a guy who likes 8 year old girls. The jury had been out for 10 hours, so I was worried. Drove down, ran up stairs, got there in time to hear the judge say; "Guilty on 3 of 4 counts" from the jury. Next thing I know, the dad, and Aunt are practically knocking me down with hugs. The little girl was crying with relief, because this was not just the first, this was the second guy that the mother had allowed to molest her. Both are in jail (courtesy of me), awaiting the rest of their lives behind bars.

Then while talking to the jury, I get a call that a 16 year old victim has been recovered from the home of a registered sex offender, who likes his victims between 4 and 16. Spent all afternoon working on it (Search warrant, arrest warrant, getting a judge to sign all of them), and at 1830 hours last night, he went to jail (with a bond of $300,000), I did a search warrant on his house, and recovered my DNA evidence, just like the little girl said it would be there. In less than 12 hours two sexual predators off the streets of my county. Yes, a good day.

Congratulations Murph.

My virtual step daughter is ADA in Dallas County and heads up the family assault division ( I think that's what it's called).
She loves her job, and loves putting them away.

I can only imagine the stress that you guys go through with the victims, etc.

Keep up those good days.

Murph - as a resident of San Antonio and Bexar County, and as someone who plans on being a dad someday, Thank You. Just like Renae said, you don't get enough money/praise.

Murph - congrats - I have a question though: "The little girl was crying with relief, because this was not just the first, this was the second guy that the mother had allowed to molest her. Both are in jail (courtesy of me), awaiting the rest of their lives behind bars."

Does something get done about the MOTHER of this little girl? Cause if it's the 2nd guy... somethings up with mom in her dating selections?

I guess castration wasnt part of the deal along with short chained shackles connecting the wrist to the ankles?

And if it hasnt been said, you and your teams are doing excellent work!
