My comments are not web friendly either. I also have photos of my midget playing in the tub. Does that somehow make me a bad parent?

I just wish we do unto Bentonville as was done to Carthage.

John, Walmart is not the issue. It started with the clerk, yes, who acted a bit brainless in following a policy that is on its own merits sound.

But it got really stupid when the CPS got involved.

Evidently, if Walmart won't hire you, CPS will.

Go lawyers!

There's a "Walmart Nazi" thread in this forum(http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...=walmart+nazis). Their photo dept. policies are out of whack. Well meaning do-gooder, meet common sense.

Okay - you know - blaming a clerk at Walmart who gets paid $6/hour isn't the real issue.

The real issue is that it took a MONTH for CPS to review the images and get those babies back home.

A month???

we walk such a tightrope these days, balance out this story with the one from Murph about the mother and BF and the 8yr old molestation victim. Then there is the story a couple weeks ago about the photographer at Westfest. Its such a crazy world, I hate to even bring out a camera when children are present.

Sorry to say, but my company has a similar policy... if I see ANY nudity in the customer's personal website I have to report it. If there are ANY children nude, it gets a red flag and is escalated immediately........

There is NO TOLERANCE on this policy......

I have tried to get a better definition on "nudity" but managment says ANY NUDE must be reported.

From a corporate viewpoint I can understand just how important this can be, but from a personal standpoint, I know there is a vaste difference in kiddy-porn and snapshots.

Law is often written in the form of "allows or should have known" about illegal activity, this forces crazy policies. That is the type of thing that causes trucking companies to have some really screw policies on there drivers activities. Unfortunately there is no common sense review that takes place along the chain of command.

I can see the employee being required to report it (even if that was the case) but, for CPS to take a month and be able to hold those children that long, that is unacceptable. I can't even imagine the outrage they would get from me 24/7 if they did that to our family. It's horrible that they even have the power to do that.

I remember hearing similar stories when our kids were at that stage (they're 15 and 12 now). I've been accused of being paranoid--usually by my wife--but I'm not one who likes to push the envelope with stuff like this. Of course, I couldn't convince my mother in law, so we ended up with some "bath time" pictures anyway--which is fine, in retrospect. Luckily the people doing the developing had sense. As an instructor at one of my previous employers was fond of saying: "Common sense is the least common of the senses..."

dont get me started on CPS. they bully people. they'll screw with people that actually want to do right by their children, and let the people that are real dangers to their children go because there is no bullying those people. it's a useless organization.

Huh?

dbphotos added 2 Minutes and 0 Seconds later...Double Post Merged Below

If photos of kids in bathtubs are an issue, I think this would be a problem all the way back to the first portable camera. I know I have a few photos of me in the tub when I was a kid and I'm sure if I look in albums or boxes, I have some of my kids.

This is political correctness (if you can call it that) gone awry!
