Did Ja Miss me? - 09-22-2009, 12:03 PM

Well its been ummmm, a year I guess, but here I am with time to post. So I'll post an update to my life.

The layoff at O'Quinn was traumatic, I'd been there for 12 years and SHOOP, out the door you go, here is 2 weeks pay and all your vacation/sick time saved up. I thought on it for about a week and decided I was going to go do something I love doing .. cracking skulls. I now work for TDCJ-ID as a Correctional Officer at The Walls Unit in Huntsville, Tx. I took a decent sized pay cut but with these past 2 promotions and the slap in the face 3.5% pay raise the senate/house gave us I'm getting closer to what I made previously .. little by little. Working with the scum of the earth (I usually work the Close Custody wing on my in building nights) is much less stressful that working in that lawfirm ever was. I kinda like "Do what I say, when I say it, or I crack your skull!"

The new house was done in May, we've been moved in since then and I LOVE living in the country, nice, quiet, no POS neighbors, no traffic, I'll never go back.

Ha, a buddy of mine did the same thing. He got laid off and went into law enforcement.

Glad things are looking up for you!

Glad you took the opportunity to make lemonade out of some sour lemons and found a place you are passionate about living and working. Welcome back.

welcome back! Sounds like an interesting job (in some aspects). I actually shot a bridal outside the Walls Unit a couple of summers ago.

Ok, I haven't even read your post yet, but that is so weird. I was just wondering yesterday what had happened to you! Ok, now to actually read your post.

Well, it sounds like things are working out for you now, and you should be happier. Nice to hear you are in the house that I've heard so much about and enjoying it. Hope you start posting again.

I remember your photos... pretty bride... ugly groom... lol. ;-)

Welcome back - glad you like the new job.

All of my photos around here hang slightly crooked... it's the company I keep apparently (also in the litigation industry!)... ;)

That comes from when we returned home after a two week vacation. We went to visit our son's family. My wife picked up our 6 y.o. granddaughter and asked, "Did you miss Gramma?"

She looked at Gramma and said, "Were you gone?"

Egos can be so tender.
