Just because I am a nice guy, and a lot of people are mad that there are no 64bit codecs for windows. I am here to tell you, now there is, it works perfectly. No more needing to buy Ardfry codec packs. Enjoy

Hmmmm, I never had a problem before with codecs and Win 7 64-bit.
I'm using these free codecs. No viruses, trojans, adware, or spyware. http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm | | | |

Raw image codecs (CR2, etc) not video... darktiger added 1 Minutes and 9 Seconds later...Double Post Merged Below
Only 32bit raw codec were available to see raw image files in 32bit OS, not 64bit. There were some work arounds, but it kind of defeated the purposes of having a 64bit OS.

Are you talking about viewing RAW images in Windows 7? Like you would view jpegs?

Dumb question:
If I'm running CS4 64 on a 64 bit Vista machine, do I need to install (additional?) 64 bit codecs? How will this help me?

You know how you see the thumbnails in explorer (my computer), well in Vista 64/win7 64 you cannot see the thumbnails of raw files (nef, cr2, etc). This just allows you to see your raw files without going into a editor/LR/etc.

I installed this and now Photoshop CS4 won't open a RAW file from my Canon 50D. Suggestions?

For whatever its worth, I created a shortcut on my desktop to make explorer show thumbnails of my nef files
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\explorer.exe /separate /e, /root,f:\DCIM
That and I installed the codec from the Nikon download site.
YMMV. | | | |

I may have jumped the gun. I put this software on a new box that I THOUGHT I had already tested with Photoshop. I'm wondering if I Photoshop didn't have the codecs it needed before I put the new stuff on.
Maybe I'll test that tonight.
