Turns out his co-conspirator was an FBI agent and not another terrorist- don't know if any C4 was actually in the car that was parked under the building today but this was CLOSE!

One Fountain Place is that 60 story glass sided building with the long sloping sides on the north western edge of downtown.

The guy was in the US illegally (jordanian)- said that he was living in Italy Texas.

There was another attempt today of a federal building up north that the FBI stopped that was similar.

So if you hear something that perks your ears up-listen and get as many details as you can since there are people wanting to do stuff here in the US and it may be a real attempt and not somebody just blowing smoke.

Don't take much to make a car bomb nowdays as shown by the guy in Denver who the FBI arrested this past week.

KRLD 1080 AM has been working the story this afternoon here in Dallas.

What I read of the story is that the FBI was watching him virtually from the beginning. They gave him inert materials to use in place of explosives for his car bomb. They also alerted City officials that they would be making the arrest and that no one was in danger.

Scary, but not unexpected. The last two presidents were tested, and I think Obama will be too (I don't know about Bush 41 and Reagan, though I could go back to the history books and look it up. I was too busy worrying about airplanes and girls--not necessarily in that order--to worry about the world situation). Clinton was tested near the beginning of his presidency with the first World Trade Center bombing. Bush was tested with the Chinese harassment of our EP-3 in international airspace which resulted in the loss of a Chinese fighter and very nearly the loss of our airplane, and the detainment of our crew for several days. Then, of course, there was 9/11. I've been waiting for the test of Obama--I just hope the intelligence agencies are on top of things enough to prevent an attack.

Drove right by there on my way to the AAC around 6pm and noticed several helicopters hovering overhead. Some of the Dallas Stars officials told me about this... Scary.. Had my whole family with me too..

Yes the FBI was on top of this pretty early in his thought process, which is good in my book, and they did make sure that he didn't have anything in the car (other than normal car stuff) that would take down the building but it is scary.

I yelled to get people attention since this ain't no joke and people need to realize that threats are still out there and as photographers there are many occasions that we are at events/receptions/etc that people at times will let their tongues loose since they don't even realize that a photographer is within earshot and that if someone does hear something from anybody- hell OK CITY was bombed by a couple white boys that looked like good ol boys- that just sounds hinky take note and if it really sounds legit let the authorities know about it-they won't mind running it down especially after what has hit the news in the past week.

The deal last night was a suspicious box/package/briefcase that they found on like the sixth floor when sweeping the building and they evacuated it and supposedly found the owner of said item and were waiting for them to return to open it and show them that it was harmless.

I didn't realize that the building is right at 25 years old (thought it was a couple years older) and forgot that IM Pei (sp) was the architect.

My perception is not "yelling". I simply read it as an informative headline; albeit, longer than usual but informative.

Might be just the thing that catches ones attention and causes one to be more alert and vigilent. Should you find yourself in or near some target and a disaster is averted because of something as simple as a few capital letters then bully for the writer and good fortune for you.

As long a capital letters find limited purposeful use then I see them as effective here on the forum.

When it was hitting the news when I wrote this the details were a bit fuzzy as to what all had happened and how close the guy was to actually doing this dastardly act and it looks like he thought that he had it done up to not wanting earplugs so that he could hear the explosion from a distance away. WE should be glad that he wasn't a suicide bomber who knew a bit more about explosives.

To save you from going to the history books, Bush 41 was tested with the first Gulf War, Panama, Grenda. Reagan by setting the stage to help the demise of the Soviet Union, The downing of the KAL airliner by the USSR, Beruit, Libya, Carter and the Iranians, Every President is tested at some point in time

No, he was right to call you out on yelling. All caps is yelling, that's just what it means online. But, you are correct that it brings attention to the subject at hand, so maybe it was worth yelling over. I'd yell if I found out that a place many of us may go (they have weddings there and many of us have shot weddings there before) was almost bombed!!!
