3 rules for your photography business - 09-25-2009, 03:08 AM

1. Be helpful — not just some of the time, but all of the time.

2. Don’t talk down to your customers.

3. Offer something that your competition doesn’t — a great experience.

Thanks for bringing this up, seems like no matter what industry you visit, this days, customer service has gone out the window. It's a major pet peeve of mine. I grew up in retail, (auto parts), was trained by an old country boy. He taught me about selling auto parts, but most importantly he (along with my parents) taught me to be courteous. And no matter how wrong the customer is, the customer is always right. I've worked for several parts stores and a couple of Ford Dealerships, and owned my own parts store. These days, I can hardly stand to go into one, because of the non caring attitude of most places.
Sorry to get on a rant here, I'll shut up and go to work now.

It's a pretty simple concept. One that I am always amazed because it seems to go out the window fairly easily with most.

Another simple way to phrase those rules that helps keep things in check....

"Always be happy and appreciative as you are taking the customer's money"
