On a serious note Nikon looks better and better everyday. Canon please come out with needed features instead of megapixels. I guess the 7D shows some promise?

That's what I'm wondering. Of course, I'm still shooting with the 5D classic.

Mostly the FPS, Multiple Focal Points and the Flash system they offer.

Comparing the D700 to my 5D MKII. I would have to give up HD video, price and IQ. Why can't I have it all?

I feel better now because on another forum someone posted that they wanted to know how to rotate their video from their D90 that was shot in portrait mode. OMG that is funny!

No to belittle your pain, but this cracks me up. That was me exactly before the D3. The cost of unloading and re-buying new gear was just too much for me to stomach, but if the body after the D2X didn't cut it, I was going to have to bite the bullet.

To tell the truth, I get a tiny bit of satisfaction when the Canon guys tell me what an awesome camera I have.

I can certainly understand the MFP and Flash system. After watching Joe McNally use the Nikon CLS in some of his videos, I'm wanting that real badly for Canon. I just can't stomach selling all I have, counting the loss, and buying Nikon regardless of how good the CLS and D3/D700 are. Maybe one day I will, but this isn't the day.

I have a friend that has a Canon Mark III for sale. Or when I see you next time I'll let you try my Nikon D300 with AF lens.

Can't say that I am not getting what I need from my Canon equipment. Switching to Nikon would do nothing for me other than give me something to spend money on yet again.

I switched from Nikon to Canon several years ago for a really good reason...I was shooting low light weddings constantly and Nikon high ISO was terrible and required me to rely on more flash than I desired. These days, that is a non-factor. Sure Nikon D3/D700 is a bit cleaner than a 5D2...but I like the fact that I have nearly twice the pixels to work with...FOR ME, this is more of an advantage than a modest increase in ISO ability. FOR ME, the 5D2 AF system does just what I need it to do. I have other bodies 1D3 (and soon 7D) to handle more AF intensive assignments.

So all in all, if starting from scratch, sure I'd think about it... But I am quite happy with what I have and can't think of one reason I'd make more money with Nikon equipment than my existing. So, for now....It doesn't cross my mind at all.

FWIW.

I have been talking it over with Angel for about 2 months now and He is extremely happy with his D700. I have so much money invested in Canon so it makes it really hard to do. If this was a year ago I would just buy all new Nikon stuff but with this economy I have to sell some things to make the change. I really like Nikon's flash system, lens optics and the FPS and AF would be a bonus. If it weren't for the 7D I think I would do it this month. I am trying to hold off and see what the 7D does to control the flashes remotely.

It's just a tool and the grass is always greener on the other side...

Or just do like I did... augment the 35mm format with 645
