New puppy on the way! - 09-28-2009, 10:24 PM

As some of you may remember, we had to give up our dachshund about 1½ months ago after he bit my wife in the face. She's all better now but I have SO missed having a dog around the house. My wife finally relented and said that we can get another animal. BUT, she's very adamant that we have to get a breed that's not known for being agressive. (I know that some of you are going to point out that any breed can be agressive - please, let's not go there. Don't rain on my parade.) We decided that we wanted something a bit bigger than what we've had before, and it is going to be kept inside. She likes Labs and Goldens, and so do I. Problem is that they shed way to much for my liking. SO..... we're getting a female standard sized Labradoodle. We'll be picking it up from the breeder around Christmas. I'm stoked.

Good to hear youre getting another companion.

I thought poodles have a mean streak in them, as with all animals, but more so than a lab or a golden

Good for you guys! The nice part about breeders is they have a chance to socialize them and watch their behaviorial patterns to make sure they will be a good fit for families. they really are out there for the betterment of the breed.
****Stepping down off my soap box now *****

sorry I really didnt mean to go there.

I would have expected this from Tom, but not you John...

Plus, hey, I'm Sick, so I have an excuse to be too lazy to look up a dog I care little to learn about.

Aw Man. You had a chance for a Lab or Golden and went for a Labradoodle? I think you know I've always had labs then we got this Golden. I need to go through a year or so but so far the shedding is less with the Golden than a Lab. I've been told that will be the case.

I'm glad to hear your getting another pup though. I definately know the feeling being without a dog. Just remember it's a pup and all that comes with being a pup.....LOL.
