"Freelance photojournalist Mike Anzaldi was in the right place at the right time this weekend. While stopping for lunch in Chinatown, he happened on the aftermath of a purse snatching."

Without the commentary I would have drawn some different conclusions about the amount of force used to subdue this person.
I wonder what the defense lawyers will make of this video ?

Yeah, the pics make it look much more one-sided, like the shirtless guy was defending himself while being hit and kicked.

Great series of pics. I see no issue with what the initial "samaritans" did, but the woman came in and really fired up the suspect. This is why Police Officers will tell people to stay away or get back when there is a heated scene. By having uncessary people involved it will usually only escalate the problem. Also, trying to subdue someone for 7-8 minutes may not sound like much, but when you have someone struggling for that period of time it can be very exhaustin. All in all the citizens did a good job.

Ya...agree with David..the lady and the third person...seem to have caused more issues than good...if you notice the guy with the red shirt....leaves...probably because he did not want to be associated with this...but ya without the commentary...I would have looked at it in another light...

agreed, if no "Rodney King" action was happening, why leave? The guy in the red left because they we giving the Purse Snatcher a good old Chi-town beat down. (not that he didn't deserve it)

The police told them to? They did their deed and needed to go some place? They didn't want their name getting out to the "criminal types"? There are a number of reasons for them to leave. It's nice to see we automatically throw the good Samaritans under the bus first and foremost.

Defense lawyers? They'll be their usual self......defending asswipes of the world while limiting the rights of the do-gooders.
