With the new price drop and an international edition out for 29 dollars more, I'm getting more and more tempted to get a Kindle.
Anyone using a Kindle now and how do you like it?

Love to hear feedback also. My wife is an avid reader and wants one.
I better order now if I want it before the day off work that comes near the end of the gregorian calendar year (avoiding all references to religious celebrations cause I'm in a punk mood).

I'm probably getting this for the Mrs. for Christmas or her birthday (Jan2)
Or maybe if I am really brave - for both. :)

I've been using a second-gen model since shortly after they came out. I find it much more convenient than paper for simply reading, especially since I can make the font larger when I need to :-). On the other hand, for looking things up in technical books I'm not very impressed.

We've bought 4. 2 originals (hubby wanted one after swiping mine when we were on a trip to Scotland), then i bought the second gen when it came out, and he got a DX for his technical manuals and textbooks. So you could say that we recommend them highly. We've passed the original two on to a family member and a friend, both of whom love them almost as much as we do.
The second gen made some good ergonomic changes, but i do dislike the fact that you can no longer use an SD card for storage.

I just ordered the 6" model for my wife, for her birthday tomorrow. She reads lots of fiction so it should be nice for that. I'll see how she likes hers before I decide whether to get one for myself eventually.
I'm disappointed to read that searching and indexing is pretty much nonexistent, since I think it would be great for searchable reference material otherwise.
Color would be nice, since a lot of the non-fiction I read is photography related and contains photographs. But I think affordable color e-paper is probably still a ways off.

I love the feel and smell of real books, the texture of the pages and the sound of a page turning. I love it when I buy a used book and find an inscription or notes scribbled in the margin. Often I add my own scribbles. Can't get that with a kindle.

I'm audio book kind of guy too but I've been keeping an eye on the Kindle (DX). I'm hoping that the next generation brings back the CF card so for now I'll wait. I am tired of carrying a bag with me that 50% of the weight is books when I travel.

My wife has the original and loves it. She travels quite a bit and loves that she can carry multiple books in the space of a pad of paper. She seems to be reading 4 or 5 books at any give time...
When it gets into searching and drawings and color (obviously) I think there is room for improvement but for novels I think they are pretty darn nice.

Weird thing, I'm a techie guy, was very tempted when the Kindle first came out, but this is exactly how I feel. I love wandering around a (used) bookstore just to smell & touch them, and I find it very relaxing at a bookstore, more than sitting in front of a computer.
I don't scribble on my books though unless it's for a project. Quote:
