Shots Mag Call for Work - 10-11-2009, 11:54 AM

"The venerable Shots mag- azine, an alternative magazine for art, student and outsider photography (my description, not theirs) founded by Dan Price, is issuing a call for work, for its annual Portfolio Issue. There's a small submission fee. "Photographers selected for inclusion will be interviewed for publication and featured on at least 4 pages....""

Glad to see their website is fresh... for 1995. Man, they sure didn't spend much on that one! It looks like a free Angelfire website.

Everyone has a different opinion about websites. Yes, theirs is a little sparse on "pop", but it does a fairly good job of providing information. It could always be worse, you know, something like a flash site that just switches between a bunch of photos and provides no information at all except a name and address :-)

I fail to see what their website has to do with the information they provide which is current and the call for works.

Some of us judge a website by its content not its flash, just as one does a 'Little Black Dress.'

My page states that it is only a temporary page, which should be replaced by a real site very soon. I think that is better than having no website, in the meantime. And my janikphoto.com page lists my other full website at janikfoto.com, not just my name and number.

I'm not saying they need a bunch of bells and whistles, but they are supposed to be a publication. I think the site's branding needs to be better carried over to their website. This page looks like someone took five minutes to post a bunch of info. I just think a professional publication needs to have a more professional website.
